6 Key Steps To Overcome Distractions In Crowdfunding

Project initiators running their own crowdfunding campaigns would be quick to point out that managing these projects is a lot of work. From the moment you decide you want to launch a campaign to facilitating that last dollar that comes in, the work will never stop. Some people might see it as just building a page and waiting for the money to trickle in but that is hardly the case. In fact, that is the mentality that holds back projects from ever reaching their goal.

People get this notion because they see that the campaigns are online and just keep getting funds from different people all over the world. Not a lot of people understands the work that has to be put in from start to finish. Opportunity providers know this too well and are able to put the required work into getting to their objective.

However, what can make the job a little more challenging for you if you are running a crowdfunding campaign are the distractions that seem to be all around you. You cannot choose what life throws at you but you can choose how you would react to it.

Tips when distractions are all around your crowdfunding project

Here are a few things you can look into when your social funding campaign seems to be beleaguered by so many distractions.

  • Audit your time. This is one of the most crucial steps in addressing distractions because you need to know what is eating up your time. To see what it is that distracts you is the first step in addressing the issue. What you can do is to list down how you spend your day and take a look at it after a week. How many hours did that Twitter or Facebook peek add up to or even answering emails?
  • Know your priorities. As soon as you have an idea how you spend your time, you need to plot out your priorities as you manage your crowdfunding project. Is it donor relations or prototype testing? As you identify your priorities, you need to start shifting your time allocation.
  • Acknowledge that you have work to do. You need to acknowledge the work at hand and that you need to start getting to it. There are distractions that would convince you to put off work for another day. Be firm and get to work.
  • Remember your end goal. One tip to be able to get back on track is to keep in mind what your end goal is. Apart from reaching your funding goal, is it to leave a legacy for your children or to simply make your parents proud of you? These things can help you keep distractions at bay until you finish what you set out to do.
  • Your focus must be greater than the distractions.  Find your focus and keep at it and when distractions start to come knocking, dig deeper and keep your focus. You might be surprised at the amount of work you can accomplish when you are able to work without distractions.
  • Change of environment. One tip to concentrate on your crowdfunding project in the midst of distractions is to physically remove yourself and work in a different spot. It can be a day of working in your favorite coffee shop with headphones on or a day in a different corner of the house.
