‘Lord of the Rings’ Inspires $3 Billion Crowdfunding Campaign to Build Fictional City

Architects are looking to build a life-sized replica of Minas Tirith in the south of England

A group of architects is hoping to raise $3 billion (£1.85 billion) to build a life-size replica of Minas Tirith, the city featured in “Lord of the Rings,” in the south of England.

In a crowdfunding campaign effort, the group describes itself as an “ambitious team of architects and structural engineers who are passionate about creating a beautiful, inspirational and fully-functioning replica of Peter Jackson’s depiction of Minas Tirith, as seen in his Lord of the Rings films.”

They believe they can create the biggest tourist attraction in the world, as well as make it a place to live and work. The team hopes to create both residential and commercial properties, with the residences being categorized by their tier, size and quality.
